STATEMENT ON SUSPENSION OF FLIGHTS

Madagascar Airlines suspends its international flights and announces its recovery plan

Madagascar Airlines, the Malagasy national airline, announces a recovery plan aimed at improving its financial situation and returning to profitability.

Change of governance

A new chairman of the board of directors, Mamy Rakotondraibe, has been appointed. He is responsible for steering the implementation of the recovery plan.

“Phoenix 2030” business plan

The “Phoenix 2030” business plan provides for a restructuring of the Madagascar Airlines fleet, with the acquisition of new aircraft and the return of certain leased aircraft. It also provides for investments in maintenance and staff training.

Temporary suspension of long-haul flights

Long-haul ACMI flights, i.e. with aircraft rental with crew and maintenance included, are suspended until further notice. This measure is necessary to reduce the company's losses.

Strengthening the home network

Madagascar Airlines will focus on the domestic network during the period of suspension of long-haul and regional flights. This measure will help restore the fundamentals of the company, particularly in terms of maintenance and sales management.

Prospects

The CEO of Madagascar Airlines, Thierry de Bailleul, believes that these measures will allow the company to return to profitability in the coming months. Long-haul flights will resume as soon as the company is able to provide them under dry lease, that is to say with its own planes and its own crews.
